Like a Kid on Christmas

How is it February already?!

I’m excited about True Insight. It’s been a long time coming. It wasn’t initially feasible early in my career— I wasn’t long out of residency, had a young child, and was the sole breadwinner. As a couple, we always wanted to have only one parent working so we could be truly present for our son. We didn’t like the idea of daycare, and frankly, the price of daycare alone wasn’t worth the second income! Landon was our one and only, by the grace of God and the science of IVF. We wanted to raise him. Family always comes first.

Fast forward to now— we’re taking the plunge! I mean it when I say family comes first— traditional medicine doesn’t allow that, and to be honest, I’m hoping to develop relationships with members such that they feel like family.

As new business owners, we’ve been drinking from the firehose of business information and education, consulting with everyone possible, and planning for success. We can’t wait! I’m that person of passion— my father used to tell me, and my husband now does— “Shhhh, you’re getting loud!” That’s my passion coming through! My voice goes up, I get more energized, and it seems to always happen when I start talking about True Insight with people— anyone, anywhere really! I love connecting with people. I love making a difference. I love sharing my own experiences in hopes of helping others through similar circumstances. I love medicine. I love the “detective” side of it all! And I love encouraging others, supporting them through the tough times, and celebrating their successes!

But we’re still finalizing the last must-do items before the doors open. There is a lot to take are of— and we’re “on hold” with the to-do list until we secure our location in Wake Forest. I want to serve the community in which we live. And it’s an area without a physician-led direct primary care office! Well, until now… errrrr soon, I should say!

But I can’t just wait. It’s not in my blood. So here is this blog. It’s the area to bring information straight to you! It will likely take a lot of different formats. I’m imagining posts about commonly asked questions, updates about issues I’m seeing frequently at the office, exercise and nutrition tidbits, my take on recent updates in literature or guidelines, blurbs about improving quality of life and longevity, or just the good ol’ recipe to keep in your back pocket for dinner plans! (Shhhh, don’t let Jeff know I said it, but he is quite the home chef!)

Over time the blog will surely evolve. But I think it will be a great place to go for some good health information, a good laugh, or just a random nutritious recipe!

And maybe a dog picure… or two… or ten. Only time will tell!

Until next time…
